"Our experience with everyone at Rent Check was wonderful. We learned of our rights, had all the legal processes taken care of, and the issues resolved expeditiously." - Carol Moore-Ede Executive Producer CBC-TV
In the fall of 1976, born out of the need to prevent a past occurrence of serious damage and income loss, and to achieve an enjoyable rental unit for his residents, John Dobrowolski founded and pioneered the concept of reporting tenancy history information and providing reports to landlord friends who also submitted their information on all past and current tenancies. Eventually the local database grew to include a provincial network of other rental housing providers and their management teams making contributions of mostly good tenancies with a less than 1% reported as negative records.
The company's creation of this niche market was firmly rooted and grew steadily as non-existent aid for landlords helped promote the popularity of the tenant selection service. The prime directive and principle was and still is, to establish a service based on integrity, accuracy, high service quality and information relevance which has to this day grounded the company and is the major strengthening reason for its longevity.
